Tia Maggio was born in New York City. Her parents, Patricia and Joseph, were both artists and she developed her talent at a very early age. Growing up in Brooklyn Heights, she later attended Berkshire School in Massachusetts, and received her first degree from Pratt Institute where she graduated with honors in graphic design and advertising. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts, where she studied fine art, painting, and the history of art, and began her career doing watercolor landscapes.

During a trip to Scotland, Tia was inspired by the country's dramatically stark, but beautiful, terrain which drew her attention to the panoramas of skies, clouds, and weather. Combining color and texture, her works reveal the authority of nature’s turbulence or its hushed serenity.

Her pastels of sloping Piedmont hills and skies have been exhibited locally in Northern Virginia and New York City, and are in private collections in the U. S. and Italy.

She resides near Middleburg, Virginia with her children Charlie and Isabella.
